The 2000 vintage made its "debut" at Vinitaly in fair Verona, with much acclaim. This vintage is even better I think; more "Italianate" and certainly with more tannin, which typifies the variety. How long will it live? I dont know, but I suspect it has a good, long life ahead of it. Only 100 cases made. 14.5% alcohol

Medium deep colour. Smoky bacon earthy tea leaf aromas and flavours, has some fruit richness but lack power and chalky dry brambly tannins. Will turn to leather soon. Now. 75 points

Medium colour. Carob, red currant, red cherry, slightly minty aromas and flavours, sinewy pronounced bitter tannins and marked acidity. Very difficult to see this wine ever coming into balance. Definitely a work in progress at the time. 14.5% Alc 82 points – Now
